And honestly, I am also having difficulty figuring out how the 'Likes' are working these days, between Notes and Substack drops. So I'm just winging it the best I can LOL
YES King👑👑 I was reading one of Solarah's posts on her new website Solarah.xyz and heard this song playing in the back of my brain, lol- havent heard it in years, & Always Loved It🥰🥰
While I think Substack had good intentions, the "Follow", "Notes", and the like, complicate everything unnecessarily.
Unless the only option is to "Follow", I always Subscribe to a Substack. That way I receive an email whenever new material is Posted. I think "Notes" show up in the "Notifications" when one is on Substack's site, but when I am going through the "Notifications" section, I'm not looking for Posts. For me, "Notifications" is a quick/easy way of seeing if there have been any Comments on my Posts, without wading through all of my emails.
My approach is to send everything out as a Post, and that way everyone who is interested in what I might have to say can take a look at their convenience, not when Substack would otherwise place it somewhere that potential readers might, or not, ever see. And without what, in practice, has become Substack’s “read it or miss it” and “visit the writer’s Page if you want to see it” result with non-Posts.

I'm convinced that it's because they're catering/pandering to all the doom scrollers who came from all the big brand social media platforms over this past summer🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I see all these new stacks of zero posts getting 1000s of likes circulating notes daily now- notes has turned into the new twittsnapgrambook😁😁
