Up since 4am, almost every day. Last nite it was almost 11pm when I found out it was supposed to rain all nite starting at around 1am. Too late to call anyone about sleeping in their car for the nite. My lil spot, which has me hidden in plain site, has no roof. It's a good spot because it's elevated, which reduces the risk of waking up with a bear staring U in the face, or any other wildlife checking U out. Also because it's elevated it's literally safe from the human wildlife, cuz humans don't Look Up. It gives me a good vantage point, and I can hear everything around me in every direction. However the problem with no roof still remains. A few nites back, it was sprinkling on & off all nite, & I was legit shivering & too cold to get any sleep, so I maybe got in 30mins all nite if I was lucky. When U are doing physical labor all day, every day, without putting in enough proper fuel, and not getting any real rest, it starts to destroy your health. It literally kills brain cells, why do U think the military utilizes sleep deprivation as a torture tactic?? It's not only a lack of sleep issue tho, the sleep I do get is somewhere around 20min catnaps. And those naps are quite often resulting in completely numb limbs & occasionally lower torso as well. To give U a better idea of what my experience is, this is my 1st lil spot:
No I don't have a bedroll or sleeping bag, I wear a long sleeve hoodie with the hood up, and I have a cloth shopping bag with a few clothing pieces in it, which doubles as my pillow. There's reasons for this, if a situation were to take place, in which I needed to be up & moving quickly, there ain't no time for xtra shit. Besides that, I'm not tryna get comfortable & complacent in this bullshit. This Ain't Living- This is Survival, And Nobody Should Ever Get Comfortable in Survival!!
So last nite I had to find somewhere else. A new spot, with shelter. All these scared of living mufuckas consistently tell U, “Stay in a well lit area, with cameras- for your safety!!” Um… No!! Staying out in the open is not safe, that's some shit that'll get U jacked. Ask any Veteran who's gone thru Real survival training, or just ask yourself, why are all military members in Camouflage?? It's literally so U can be Hidden in Plain Site. A comprehension of basic physics helps in this scenario as well. What I mean by this is, U have to realize, how angles effect whether or not U can be seen, by a passerby who may only be a couple feet away from U. After scoping out a few possibilities, none of which were ideal, due to being too wide open, I found a spot that was decent. At street level, but a few stairs, and a wall for cover, plus a nicely extended roof. A few times last nite, people walked by with only a few bricks separating us, but I can guarantee U, they never knew I was there. However due to this one being ground level, I got in much fewer catnaps than I do in my 1st spot. Back to the wall, head in the corner- Hidden in Plain Site:
I wouldn't wish this shit on anyone, the crazy shit is, This ain't new to me. I grew up in the city, one way worse than damn near any place I've ever been since, I know how to survive in the concrete jungle, but I fuckin hate it. It's legit shit like this is a major reason I disagree with anyone who says we Need Government!! Without government in the mix way I would be in a fuckin shelter, not pullin up a piece of concrete for a bed every nite!! The nite I knocked on the shelter door would've been my 1st nite there, that's how that shelter was run when it was a Private entity. 20yrs ago the government had zero say in how the shelter was run, and it was a dry shelter. People didn't Live in the shelter for several years at a time- THIS IS NOT PROGRESS- this way is Regression!! 20yrs ago, people had a 60-90day stay in a shelter, long enough to get back on your feet with a helping hand, and off U went. Nowadays people are so fuckin stuck on the governments teet, they can't do shit for themselves, and most don't want to & won't even try. But make No mistake, this shit was deliberately set up this way by the government. Because while U would think this means those people are a drain on the system, they are actually keeping money circulating within the system, by keeping a bunch of seat fillers collecting a paycheck based on social security numbers. Meanwhile, now that I have secured an income again, I need 30days, maybe 60 at most, to get my family & I into an apartment. And I've been stuck in some bullshit instead of the “assistance agencies” actually assisting me. Don't get it twisted, I'm Not complaining about any of this- that is never my stance on any subject- I am simply shedding light on the subject, so that Anyone who hasn't comprehended what this experience is like, can get a clear picture of this situation. If U have ever been that person to yell at some homeless dude in the street, beggin for food, “Get a job U bum!!” maybe He has Zero resources to do so. U don't have any clue why another human is in the predicament they're in. The reason why I'm constantly criticized by other homeless people especially, about “Not looking Homeless” is because my shit is legit strictly financial. It's not always about drugs, alcohol, gambling, or any other addiction U can think of. And half the time people end up homeless first & then develop mental health issues & addictions because they're trying to escape the reality of being thrown away by the rest of society. I can literally sit for hours anywhere around this town & I'm completely “invisible.”
